ABOUT US

Blue Hills College is a Christian Private School situated in Midrand, halfway between Johannesburg and Pretoria. The school is registered with the Department of Education and Umalusi under registration number 133694. It is also a member of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) and offers the IEB curriculum. Currently the school has an enrolment of 680 learners from Grade 1-12. Out of these, 160 of them are in residence. The boarders come from different provinces of South Africa and the SADC region.

Established in 1996 and originally located in the Johannesburg Central Business District under the name of St Paul’s, the school initially catered for both primary and high school learners. The primary school was unfortunately discontinued due to lack of adequate facilities only to be revived in 2018.

Over the years, Blue Hills College has evolved from being a small-inner city school to a well-established independent institution with excellent boarding facilities; an excellent academic record, a well-disciplined, respectful and hardworking team of professionals and students .

THE EARLY YEARS

The school relocated to Braamfontein in 1998, where it grew from approximately 250 to over 400 learners, before the decision was taken in 1999 to move the high school to a larger, permanent location in Midrand. This migration enabled the school to establish boarding facilities to accommodate boys and girls living outside the region. Blue Hills College experienced remarkable growth between 2002 and 2006 in terms of enrolment figures and infrastructure. A new block of 22 classrooms was added in 2005 and student numbers rose to 560 in the following year.

STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE

Moments have never been dull at Blue Hills College, each challenge has always been taken as a learning curve. Today the school is very proud of its contribution to society. Among its former learners, the school is honoured to have young man and women who have emerged as leaders in various industries across the country. After matriculation a number of our learners get accepted and enrolled in prestigious universities throughout the country and internationally. There, they pursue rigorous studies in the fields of Finance, Science, Aviation, Law, Medicine, Engineering and many more. Our pass rate which is averagely above 95%, Christian ethos and values, discipline and respect has distinguished Blue Hills College and Prep school as a preferred place of learning.

CONCLUSION

Blue Hills College is proud to announce that our Preparatory school which opened in January 2018, has grown steadily. A Preparatory wing, to accommodate up to 200 learners is under planning and at an advanced stage. In addition to growth in infrastructure, strides have been made to ensure that the institution keeps abreast with all the technological innovations and developments within the education industry. With the 4th Industrial Revolution upon us; E-Learning and robotics are the current focus areas, which we believe will better prepare learners for the future. In 2018 the IEB Curriculum, which better prepares learners for tertiary studies, thereby giving them a competitive edge when they assume their varsity studies, graduate and subsequently look for work was adopted to improve our product offerings and service to our boys and girls.
